SO a few weeks ago, I took my MBP to the Apple store @ Coconut Point because my right speaker was not working. Because of this malfunction, I was unable to iChat. So I dropped it off and they fixed it. However, when I got home that day I realized that my fans were running all the time at around 6000 rpm (istat pro). This was annoying because I always heard something like a vacuum cleaner in the background. Well I took it back in to get it checked out. They told me that the thermostat was broken and causing the fans to run all the time. An average thermostat is >$10. Well, I have this nifty little "insurance" called AppleCare. After 2 days of working on my computer, they found that my logic board needed replacing along with several other costly items. $1485 later, my MBP is back in action, quiet as a mouse and ready to rock. I told them that they could have kept this one and just traded me one of the new ones. Worth a shot, huh?!
